Poetry #22 6 am on the terrace

An hour away from the daily hustle-bustle,
Has indeed become a rare occurrence,
An early morning visit to my terrace,
Gives me the much required ambience.

Watching the trees swaying in the breeze,
Their leaves moving with elegance,
Just as a bride glides along the aisle,
Leaving the onlookers in a trance.

The variety of flora offers a visual treat,
Banana, papaya, coconut and jasmine,
Towering above the homesteads,
Enhancing the facades with a lush green.

Crows cawing and sparrows twittering,
Flying vigorously across the clear sky,
Such profound inky black avian spirits,
Soaring at an acceleration, so high.

Energetic, multiple times over humans,
Who are still stirring in their beds,
Except few early risers on the calm streets,
With solid purpose in their heads.

Squinting to locate the omnipresent sun,
Behind a creamy layer of fluffy clouds,
Tenacious rays filter through the light mist,
Adequately lighting up the awakening world.

The cats on my neighbour’s doorstep,
Sit lazily without a single mew,
The breeze wafted through the clothesline,
Lifting the clothes and my spirit too

I watch two men pore over the newspaper,
Reading about what the reporters foresee,
The milkman sounds his horn for those,
Who need him for their morning tea.

A view to be treasured indeed,
Invigorating the mind and soul,
An apt beginning for a productive day,
Ready to rock and roll !
