What made me to casually pick this up at a local book fair were two things. One, I’d wanted to know what the fuss was about Robin Sharma,  the author of ” The Monk who sold his Ferrari “. Second, the book just measured the length of my palm and had about 200 pages, which would make it a comparatively quick read. I’m not a very big fan of inspirational books because I seldom complete them in spite of the content carrying life-changing lessons.

I actually took many days to complete this book. Because many paragraphs demanded hours of worthy insight. Each chapter is a true pearl of wisdom, ending with a profound quote by a celebrated personality.  The author explores different facets of attitude, character and lifestyle, mostly through unrelated chapters, making it an interesting read.

The book has such doable techniques to improve the quality of life. Most of them  have been dealt with in various inspirational books, but there’s something about the simplicity and novelty in the presentation that is appealing. Few of them are:

1) Start the day with 30 min of pure introspection in a personal sanctuary.

2) Take a true break from a week of grueling routine which can be as simple as a few hours of reading that book you always wanted or taking a solitary walk to give you peace.

3) Care for the unique physical asset, our body, in a befitting manner.

4) Don’t always live by the clock. Let your spirit soar the way it yearns for, without the constrictions of self-imposed deadlines.

5) Invest in a good juice machine. Let your day begin with a generous helping of fresh fruits and vegetables pureed into an energising drink.

6) Remember the rule of 21. This is when you practise a positive habit for 21 days continuously, it becomes a routine habit.

7) Sleep only for the optimum hours required. Focus on the things you can accomplish when you are awake.

This is one book which I wanted to read again as soon as I completed it, to revisit the exhilaration and simplicity of the messages conveyed.
